“Quit Facebook” movement gains traction

May 11th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Jaded Brechtian Ennui, News

People are finally wising up to the Facebook menace. Perhaps it’s the security/privacy issues. Or Facebook’s arrogance. Maybe it’s the negative press Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg have been getting lately.

Or maybe people are just getting sick of Facebook like they got sick of the LiveJournals, MySpaces, and Zangas before it, and are ready for the next social networking app for oversharing intarweb attention whores (my stupid vanity blog works just fine for me, thankyouverymuch!)

Whatevs. I know it’s damn-near impossible to live off the grid in this day and age, but the sooner people kick this data-harvesting monster to the curb, the better. “Deactivating” your account doesn’t cut it. You can only fully delete your account by clicking this link and following the instructions, including staying off facebook for a full two weeks.
